As a third-generation hairdresser, Jan continues the mission started by his grandfather, Carl Lauritsen, in 1941: providing world-class craft to his community.

Jan’s expertise has taken him far beyond the local shop. For nearly two decades, he served as an International All-Star educator, teaching advanced cutting techniques on global stages from New York to Sydney. His commitment to the craft led him to establish the Men’s Dogma Academy in 2004, a curriculum designed to push the boundaries of men’s grooming through logic and high-level skill. Today, Jan balances his time between leading the Carls Barber Shop & Creative Community and continuing his work as an educator, ensuring that the art of barbering remains as sharp today as it was in 1941.

A student of the craft and a master of the chair, Christoffer Kragh represents the pinnacle of modern barbering. His foundation is built on the Men’s Dogma method, where his natural talent and dedication saw him outperform his peers from day one. Christoffer is a highly sought-after member of the Carls creative community, known for his analytical approach to hair and style.

His deep technical knowledge is so well-regarded that he is tasked with educating the next generation of Danish hairdressers at the national level. Because of his responsibilities in the educational field, his chair is one of the most coveted in the shop—availability is limited, reflecting his status as one of the country’s leading experts.

Norm MacLeod represents the perfect fusion of international experience and rugged authenticity. Before joining Carls in 2018, Norm established himself as a powerhouse in the education field, serving as a lead technical advisor for American Crew and several other leading global product brands. Today he utilizes that same expert-level knowledge to deliver precision cuts at Carls. Whether he’s wearing his signature cowboy hat or sharing a story from his Canadian roots, Norm provides a world-class service rooted in decades of professional education.

As co-owner, Bex brings a holistic and artistic perspective to Carls.

With a foundation in organic hair science and high-end craftsmanship, she ensures every result is both healthy and visually refined.

Alongside her work at Carls and the Dogma Academy, she is also active in theatre styling—where precision, pressure, and performance meet.

A co-owner with a sharp eye for detail, Ermin M represents the new era of men’s hair. With over a decade of experience, his journey began in the world of premier unisex hairdressing before he pivoted to focus exclusively on his passion: the art of the barber.

Ermin spent years working in the trenches of Copenhagen’s most influential barbershops, refining a style that is as technical as it is aesthetic. Since joining Carls in 2023, he has become a driving force in our creative community. His background allows him to see hair from a unique perspective, ensuring that every client receives a look that is perfectly tailored and executed with absolute precision.

Versatility Defined

Since joining Carls in 2024, Mathias Olsson-Hallgreen has become an essential part of our creative ecosystem. Whether you are visiting our barbershop or one of our two specialized salons upstairs, Mathias brings a consistent level of excellence and an eye for detail to every chair.

His background in organic-based craftsmanship allows him to navigate the needs of both men and women with a focus on hair health and technical logic.

Having completed the Dogma Education, Mathias is now a key member of the educational team. As he transitions into a lead educator role at the academy, he continues to set a high standard for the next generation of stylists at Carls.

Kunsten at lytte

Hos Mette Sofia er oplevelsen lige så vigtig som resultatet.

Mette Sofia blev uddannet frisør i 2009 og har siden arbejdet både kreativt og fagligt med hår – blandt andet som underviser på NEXT, den danske frisør- og kosmetikeruddannelse, samt stået i spidsen for vores Women’s Dogma-program. Gennem årene har hun arbejdet med både herre- og damehår og udviklet en teknisk og kreativ forståelse, som giver hende mulighed for at skabe frisurer, der både passer til personen og til hverdagen. Hun har et skarpt blik for form, balance og personlig stil.

Hendes signatur er interessen for mennesker. Hun elsker at lytte til folks historier og tager sig tid til virkelig at forstå både hår og personens livsstil, som frisuren skal leve i. Hun tror ikke på at forcere den kreative proces – det bedste resultat opstår, når der er tid, nærvær og plads til dialog.

For Mette strækker frisørfaget endnu længere end et håndværk – det er en proces, hvor nærvær og tillid er afgørende for det endelige resultat. Hendes kunder oplever derfor ikke blot en klipning eller behandling, men et rum hvor der er tid til fordybelse, dialog og ro.

Ud over sit arbejde som frisør er Mette også uddannet kranio-sakral terapeut og thetahealer. Den viden bringer hun med ind i mødet med sine kunder og skaber en oplevelse, hvor både velvære, æstetik og nærvær går hånd i hånd.

Barbering is the Rønnow family trade in Sweden, but Johan’s career has taken him far beyond the family salons. As the former Artistic Director for American Crew Europe, Johan spent 10 years defining the look of modern masculinity on a global scale. His leadership was a driving force behind the brand’s peak era of international success. A member of the Carls creative community since 2019, Johan splits his time between the shop and his work as a professional photographer. This unique combination of skills ensures a precision that is visually perfect from every angle. Johan doesn’t just cut hair; he composes a look, bringing a decade of elite European leadership to every client he serves.

Amalie Westfall is the “last of the first”—the final remaining member of the elite team that launched Carls Østerbro in 2014.

Over the last decade, she has cemented her reputation as the shop’s most highly-reviewed professional, known for a level of skill and attention to detail that is simply unmatched.
